Open-Pollinated, Heirloom & Homestead SeedsEspecially adapted for Northern GardensGood Seed FlowersBy including flowers in your garden scheme, you reap a harvest of more than beauty, fragrance and an abundance of cut flowers. When planted among your veggies, flowers will attract beneficial insects to the area. These can enhance pollination or act as deterrents to your unwelcome insect residents. When harmful insects are attracted to your garden, having flowers nearby can repel or confuse them to the extent that they will leave. Many flowers can be cut, dried and made into everlasting arrangements for your enjoyment throughout the year.
Edible Flowers There are several herb and ornamental flowers suitable and safe to use. Many are best broken into petals or individual florets. They are interesting and appealing in salads and beverages and desserts. Our children love to decorate birthday cakes with flowers from the garden or greenhouse. Some examples of these edible flowers are: Borage, Calendula, Chamomile, Chives, Marigolds, Nasturtiums, Johnny Jump-ups, and Summer Savory.
